Curbs in IOK to stop demos, Muharram processions

Srinagar, October 11, 2016 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the puppet authorities continue to impose curfew and other restrictions in Srinagar and other areas of the territory to prevent people from holding demonstrations against the civilian killings and talking out Muharram processions.

The authorities imposed curfew and other restrictions in Srinagar to stop people from staging demonstrations against the killing of a student, Junaid Ahmed, and participating in his Rasm-e-Chaharum.

Defying curfew, people took out a Muharram procession from Shamaswari Khanqah in Srinagar. Reports and witnesses said that Indian forces resorted to teargas shelling to prevent mourners from moving ahead. However, the procession managed to reach its destination at Haba Kadal despite heavy teargas shelling. Indian troops and police personnel subjected the Muharram mourners to brute force in Badgam also.

On the other hand, the puppet authorities continued to put the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, and other Hurriyet leaders including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, Maulana Abbas Ansari, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Aasiya Andrabi, Hakeem Abdur Rasheed, Bilal Siddiqui, Syed Bashir Andrabi, Zafar Akbar Butt, Javed Ahmed Mir, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Noor Muhammad Kalwal and Ayaz Akbar under house arrest or in police custody. The action is aimed at preventing the leaders from leading anti-India demonstrations and Muharram processions.

Meanwhile, normal life remained affected in the Kashmir Valley on the 95th consecutive day, today, due to the complete shutdown against the civilian killings by Indian police and troops.
