Culture Department to hold seminar for investors and tourist at Gorakh Hill

Karachi, October 03, 2016 (PPI-OT): The Provincial Minister for Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Department, Government of Sindh, Syed Sardar Ali Shah said that we will organize the seminar for investors and tourists at Gorakh Hill Station to promote this heaven-like tourist spot of our province.

This he said while chairing the meeting of Gorakh Hills Development Authority (GHDA) at its office in Karachi. The meeting was attended by Chairman (GHDA) Mr. Rafique Jamali, MPA, Sajila Laghari, DG (GHDA) Nazir Ahmed Jamali and other concerned officers.

The Director General (GHDA) Mr Nazir Ahmed Jamali briefed the Minister about the ongoing and completed development works at Gorakh Hills. He told the meeting that the Gorakh Hills Development Authority (GHDA) came into existence in 1995 by the Act of assembly for the sole purpose of development of the selected area of Khirthar range.

On this Minister Culture Syed Sardar Ali Shah said that we have to create a sustainable and eco-friendly tourist destination by engaging local communities and private sector in this process. He said that for this propose a grand seminar will be held at Gorakh to attract investors in this field. He said that the business community, investors, the representatives of NGOs, chambers of commerce, Foreign Consulates’ commerce and trade officers, amateur tourists, media representatives and persons from all walks of life will be invited in this seminar.

It was decided in the meeting that Gorakh Hills will be facilitated with solarification of its current eight tourist Huts, and for this the Minister directed the GHDA authorities to prepare a plan of establishing a Solar power plant. The Minister said that we are considering to hire a consultant having great experience in horticulture at such sites. He said that in this way this hill station would wear the greener look and this would accentuate its beauty.

The DG GHDA apprised the Minister that the majority of the works of summer resort at Gorakh have been completed. Giving details he told that the construction works of canteen and tuck shop, Tourist Huts, distribution of water supply line at Gorakh, restoration of electrification and other facilities have been one hundred percent completed. Whereas the construction of Family Huts, Mosque, Circuit House, Amusement Park and staff quarters is in process and it is hoped that it would be completed before the holding of the seminar. The meeting also approved the Rs.80.00 million budget 2016-17 of the authority.
