Crisis Communication Centre for Flood inaugurated

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan, inaugurated Crisis Communication Centre for Flood 2011 at Press Information Department (PID), today.

The Crisis Communication Centre will work round the clock for providing updated and latest information about the situation of flood in the country. The centre will also provide information about relief activities in coordination with its regional offices at Karachi and Hyderabad.

Speaking on the occasion, the Federal Minister said that the government departments are working hard to provide relief to the flood affected people.

She said that disastrous rains, flood had affected millions of people in Pakistan and international donors should extend assistance to deal with this disaster on humanitarian grounds. She urged international donors to cooperate with the government of Pakistan for the early relief and rehabilitation of flood victims.

The Minister appealed to the general public to come forward and donate generously to flood victims.

The Minister also said that Pakistani nation has always faced natural disasters in the past with a sense of unity and brotherhood. She assured that Pakistan will emerge out of this hardship as a stronger nation.

She also lauded the efforts of Pakistan media in highlighting and projecting the sufferings of flood affectees.
