Construction work of Manghopir Road completes

Karachi, June 08, 2012 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed said that construction of 10 kilometer portion of Manghopir Road from Surjani Morr to Hamdard University was completed with a cost of Rs104million which would provide convenience to the people of this area and improve traffic flow.

He said this while inspecting the construction work of Manghopir Road along with the Director General Technical Services Altaf G. Memon, Chief Engineer West and other high officials.

He said traffic jam had been a routine on Manghopir Road due to its dilapidated condition and the citizens had to face acute trouble, especially this situation caused immense problems for students and teachers of Hamdard University in their access to the university.

The people of this area had lot of difficulties due to absence of public transport on this road.

Director General Technical Services Altaf G. Memon while giving a briefing to Administrator Karachi about the project, said that compliance of international standards was taken into consideration in the construction of this three lane road. Three culverts were given for quick drainage of rain water.

Administrator Karachi said that the uplift work in District West will be completed soon. Recently the phase-I of Hub River Road has been completed with a cost of Rs285million that would provide convenience to Balochistan bound traffic while reducing the rate of accidents on this road.

He said that efforts were on to correct the basic infrastructure in Karachi under the Infrastructure Development Program and the pace of all the uplift projects was being reviewed to ensure their timely completion.

On the visit of Orangi Town Fire Station he directed concerned officials to carry out the repair and maintenance work of water storage overhead tank and keep the fire tenders in good condition as this fire station covers a large area including the biggest katchi abadi of Asia Orangi Town, Aligarh Colony, Qasba Colony and other nearby areas.

He also instructed to add the telephone numbers in fire station so that the citizens could make contact with the station in case of any emergency situation.
