Comprehensive efforts for flood affected people urged

Islamabad: The Federal Minister for Communications Dr. Arbab Alamgir Khan Khalil has said that we need to make concerted and comprehensive efforts for rescue and rehabilitation of flood affected people, and we also need to take exclusive care and treatment of the people infected with dengue fever and refrain from spreading panic about this disease.

The Minister expressed these views while talking to senior journalists who had an exclusive meeting with the Federal Minister. He said that we also need to redeem ourselves and seek Almighty Allah’s help and forgiveness in this regard. The Minister said that during such calamities and crises, the media can play a multifaceted role: it creates awareness, confidence, determination, and a spirit of cooperation and help among the public.

Arbab Alamgir Khan Khalil said that honourable nations face such calamities with dignity and courage. The Minister said that the President Asif Ali Zardari and the Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani have instructed to provide all possible assistance to the affected people and they are themselves monitoring the flood situation on continued basis, whereas our armed forces have, as usual, already set out on a rescue and rehabilitation mission.

He said that the present democratic government of PPP is fully cognizant of the challenges facing the country and it has overcome most of the problems facing the country. He said that our spirits are high and we are confident that we will bring the situation soon under control and will provide our people every facility of life.

Dr. Arbab Alamgir Khan Khalil also urged the media to refrain from negative propaganda and encourage positive attitudes and the government will also welcome positive criticism.
