Complete shutdown marks Indian Republic Day in IHK

Srinagar, January 26, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown was observed, today, to mark the Indian Republic Day as Black Day. Call for the shutdown was given by the All Parties Hurriyet Conference, the veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, the JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, and the High Court Bar Association to remind the international community that India’s claim of being a democratic republic was hollow as it had denied the Kashmiris their right to self-determination for the past over sixty-five years.

All shops, business establishments, schools, colleges and government offices remained closed while traffic is off the road. The occupation authorities had deployed Indian troops and police personnel in strength in Srinagar and other towns to prevent people from holding anti-India demonstrations. Mobile phone services have also been suspended in the territory.
