City administrator takes action against negligent officers
Karachi: Administrator/DCO Karachi Mohammad Hussain Syed has issued orders for suspension of services of three senior officers of city government Karachi for mismanagement and negligence during recent rains in city. Seven other officers were issued with show cause notice. Further action would be taken after the completion of the inquiry.
Those whose services had been placed under suspension include Muhammad Masood Alam, the Executive District Officer Municipal Services Group of Offices, Qazi Abdul Waheed, the Additional District Officer Corridor-II and Visal Ansari.
The seven officers who received show cause notice include District Officer Works Department Nasim Alam Rizvi, Nisar Ahmed Memon, Ghulam Sarwar Chachar, Ansar Hussain Zaidi, Ibrahim Baloch, Zafar Baloch and Sikandar Ali Afghan.
Additional District Officer Tariq Ansari and District Officer-II Shabi-ul-Husnain were the other two officers of Works and Services Department whose services had been placed under suspension earlier for negligence in preparatory arrangements for the recent rains.
Dr. Shoukat Zaman, an officer of BS-20 SCUG has been posted as Executive District Officer, Municipal Services Group of Offices, City District Government Karachi.
The Administrator/DCO Karachi Mohammad Hussain Syed has also constituted a 3 member inquiry committee to probe the purchases and payments made in the Machinery Pool, USAR, Fire Brigade and SWM Departments of the Municipal Services Group of Offices during financial year 2010-2011.
The committee comprised of its Convener Executive District Officer Finance and Planning Aamir Khursheed and members Ghanwer Leghari, the EDO Revenue and Matanat Ali Khan, the Additional EDO-II Revenue has been authorized to call all the relevant record from the concerned departments and submit its recommendations to within one week.
Meanwhile Administrator/DCO Karachi Mohammad Hussain Syed while addressing a meeting in Civic Centre said that the process of accountability is started in city government Karachi and only those would survive here who would have the spirit to serve the people. Those who would found responsible for negligence or carelessness in the public service works would be relieved from their posts.
The meeting was attended by town administrators, EDO Revenue Ghanwer Leghari, EDO Municipal Services Dr. Shoukat Zaman, EDO E and IP Dr. Saif-ur-Rehman and other officers.
He said that extensive fumigation campaign was started in city. All town administration must ensure complete and thorough spray in each and every area within their jurisdiction specially such places where mosquito breeding chances were rife.
He also directed EDO Works and Services to conduct another check-up of all those locations in city which faced unsatisfactory condition during recent rains so that the correct position could be ascertained. He also urged the town administration to inspect the cleanliness condition in their areas and arrange for immediate lifting and removal of garbage and waste from roads and sewerage lines.
