Chinese mountaineers calls on Minister

Islamabad, July 26, 2012 (PPI-OT): A Chinese team of mountaineers after successful completion of Pak-China Friendship Mountaineering Expedition to Spantik Peak called on Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo in Islamabad.

While talking to the mountaineering team members, Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo said that Pakistan-China relationship is friendly and time tested and every Pakistani whether living in city or rural areas feels the depth of this relationship.

The Minister appreciated the Chinese team successful effort to climb Spantic Peak and welcome them to visit Pakistan again and told them that there are many beautiful high peaks in Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan.

He encouraged the Chinese youth to visit these beautiful mountains of Pakistan for mountaineering. He urged them to inform the Chinese people about the tourism and mountaineering resources available in Pakistan and assured that every possible facilitation will be extended to the visiting mountaineers and tourists.

The Chinese team members said that the Chinese youth dream to come to Pakistan for mountaineering on the beautiful peaks of the northern areas of Pakistan. The team also appreciated and thanked the government of Pakistan and Ministry of Kashmir Affairs for the funding, facilitation and cooperation extended to them.

At the end, Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo proposed that Pakistan and China should jointly established a mountaineering training institute for the youth of the two countries who are interested in the mountain climbing. “We are ready to cooperate in the establishment of such training institutions”, Wattoo assured.
