Chinese Ambassador calls on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif

Lahore, July 23 2013 (PPI-OT): Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pak-China friendship has come up to test of time. He said that rapid development of China has become a role model for the world. He said that Pak-China friendship is higher than Himalayan, deeper than sea and sweeter than honey.

The Chief Minister said that China has always helped Pakistan in every hour of trial and the full cooperation of China with regard to resolving energy crisis is commendable. He said that the warm welcome by Chinese leadership to Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Pakistani delegation during their recent visit to China reflects Pak-China friendship.

He expressed these views while talking to Chinese Ambassador, Mr. Sun Weidong who called on him at a local hotel today. General Manager of China Road and Bridge Construction Ye Chengyin, Chief Executive NORENCO (Pakistan) Ding Weimin, Le YiDan, Provincial Ministers Sher Ali Khan, Zakia Shahnawaz, Syed Ghaus Ali Shah, Makhdoom Hashim, Chief Secretary, Chairman Lahore Transport Company Kh. Ahmad Hassan and other concerned officials were also present on the occasion. It was agreed to further promote bilateral economic and trade relations during the meeting. The Chief Minister also hosted a dinner in honour of Chinese Ambassador and his delegation.

While talking to Chinese Ambassador, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that neither Pak-China friendship can be weighed nor measured as the friendship between both the countries is tied with the everlasting relations of love, affection and sincerity and this friendship is being further strengthened with the passage of time. He said that the inclination of Chinese company to restart Nandipur Power Project, reflects Pak-China friendly ties.

The Chief Minister said that the start of foreign visits from China by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is clear proof of Pak-China friendship and he is thankful to Chinese leadership and the people for extending exemplary hospitality during the visit of China. He said that besides energy projects numerous development projects would also be completed through cooperation of china and all kind of facilities would be provided to Chinese investors.

The Chief Minister said that a number of Chinese companies are investing in Pakistan and investment of China in Pakistan will further increase in future. Particularly, this cooperation will further increase in energy infrastructure and other social sectors. Shahbaz Sharif said that besides resolving energy crisis, efforts are also being made for infrastructure development in the province.

The Chief Minister expressed his desire that after Lahore, projects like metro bus with the cooperation of China should also be launched in other cities of the province. He said that vast opportunities of generating energy through coal, solar and water exist in Pakistan and we expect from China that it would extend cooperation for benefiting from these sources.

The Chief Minister said that all facilities and protection would be provided to those investing in energy sector in Pakistan. He said that land would be provided to them on very soft terms for installing solar system and all out cooperation would be extended for low cost electricity production. The Chief Minister said that construction of 2000km long road from Kashgar to Gwadar is very important project and this road would play an important role in the development and progress of Pakistan. He said that the entire nation is thankful to Chinese leadership over this project.

He said that for the first time such a big practical demonstration of Pak-China friendship will be witnessed in the history. He said that launching of this project would usher in an economic revolution in the region. The Chief Minister said that more than 35 industries would be promoted in Pakistan and job opportunities would be provided to the millions of skilled and unskilled persons.

He said that after the establishment of government of PML-N in Pakistan, non-serious attitude towards the projects of national importance has been ended and Neelam-Jhelum project and Nandipur Power Plant are glaring examples in this regard.

He said that criminal delay in the execution of these projects has caused loss of billions of rupees to Pakistan but now the journey of completion of both the projects has been started speedily. He said that what happened with Nandipur Power project is a tragic story but now we have given it a beautiful turn through our efforts.

Chinese Ambassador lauding the services of Shahbaz Sharif said that Punjab has made tremendous development during the tenure of Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. While appreciating good governance and public welfare projects, he said that the province is making rapid progress under the leadership of Shahbaz Sharif and the development of Punjab in education and infrastructure sectors is worth emulating for other provinces of Pakistan. Chinese Ambassador said that metro bus project is a people-friendly project of Shahbaz Sharif.
