Chief Secretary Sindh for checking availability of health facilities at Tharparkar

Karachi, October 27, 2016 (PPI-OT):Chief Secretary Sindh Muhammad Siddiq Memon has advised the Secretaries of Health, Home Departments and Deputy Commissioner Tharparkar to jointly visit Thar Areas to ascertain the availability of health facilities, in view of combating drought, there in. He issued these instructions, while presiding a meeting to review the arrangements made by various departments, viz the Departments of Population Welfare, Works and Services, Rehabilitation, Labour, Irrigation, health, Local Government, Education and Culture and Tourism, including STEVTA (Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority).

Director General PDMA- Salman Shah informed about the status of arrangements, being made by the said departments, in a presentation. The Population Welfare Department, in view of long term solution of issues regarding birth control, birth spacing and nutrition is established – 60 family welfare centres (FWC), 08 mobile service unit and 05 Reproductive Health Service Centre (RHS), including media campaigns.

The training in the filed of construction, coal and mining , energy, service sector, hospitality and livestock by STVETA till March 2017. The Chief Secretary asked Secretary Health to ensure the availability of Doctors, Specialists, para-medical staff, linked with the Incentive Package, with the identification of shortage of LHWs (Lady Health Workers) and Dispensaries at Union Council, within a week. Secretary Health and Deputy Commissioner Tharparkar to rationalize the availability of Ambulances as per requirements of BSUs (Basic Health Units) and RHCs (Rural Health Centres).
