Chief Secretary appreciates World Bank Mission’s Association in Disaster Management Emergency

Karachi, June 18, 2015 (PPI-OT): Chief Secretary Sindh Muhammad Siddique Memon has appreciated the World Bank (WB) Mission’s Association in Disaster Management improvement with the specific reference of Sindh Province. A World Bank Team comprising Senior Disaster Risk Management Specialist Haris Khan, Program Leader Jaafar Sadok Friaa, Senior Economist M. Waheed, Senior Sociologist Dr. Shiraz Ali Shah and Consultant Seismic Dr. Sarosh Lodhi today called on Chief Secretary Sindh on Thursday and exchanged views on the Disaster Management Improvement Task.

They discussed on various affairs and issues with the specific reference of climate changes and Disaster Management Emergency. Chief Secretary Muhammad Siddique Memon elaborated the aspects of water supply and sewerage, traffic accidents, power issues, protection of the residents and live-stocks in katcha area of province and reasonable use of the resources.

Siddique Memon noted that combined efforts and mutual consultation must be enhanced to evolve strategy of need based Disaster Management Plan. Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Muhammad Waseem, Secretary Irrigation Zaheer Shah, Secretary Planning Dr. Sheerin Narijo and Senior Director KMC MA.

Rizvi and other also expressed their issues, regarding Disaster Management Strategy and its importance in emergency. The World Bank delegates will visit Sindh in last week of this month to proceed for Thar in the matter. ACS (P and D) M. Waseem will be heading the concerned officers in this regarding.
