Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah visits meet with liver transplant children

Karachi, June 10, 2015 (PPI-OT): Today Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah visited liver transplant patients at Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT).

Initially SIUT performed liver transplant surgery in collaboration with Kings College London few years back. Because of unstable conditions of peace in the country this program was slowed down. Now our own people, who have been trained at different centers in world, are able to take care of liver transplant patients confidently and now SIUT is capable of deceased liver transplantation.

On this occasion Prof. Adib Rizvi, Director SIUT thanked the chief minister for his continuous support of Sindh Government for transplant program. He said although parliament has passed the law for deceased organ donation” this program is still not taking pace in our country. The electronic and print media are continuously trying to educate the masses for this noble program, so that thousands of sick people who are dying because of shortage of organs could be saved.

He said even our Ulema have supported this program. He cited the recommendations of seminar organized by Shaikh Zaid Islamic Centre, university of Karachi. Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman has played a vital role in these recommendations Prof. Rizvi said SIUT need support of government, and electronic media to educate our masses, so that they should come forward to donate their organs. It’s very important to highlight the role of Government controlled electronic media to educate the public on daily basis.
