Chairman National Disaster Management Authority briefed President Zardari about the current Flood situation
Islamabad: The President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari is currently in Sindh. A briefing was held at Bilawal House in Karachi, the Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Dr. Zafar Qadir conducted the briefing.
The briefing was attended by Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Chief Minister Sindh, Speaker National Assembly, Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Raja Parvez Ashraf, Member Flood Relief Committee, Dr. Zafar Qadir, Chairman NDMA and senior officials of Federal and Provincial governments attended the briefing.
Addressing audience of the briefing, President Asif Ali Zardari instructed senior government officials in each affected district to actively monitor and coordinate distribution of relief goods provided by the government, international agencies, local and foreign NGOs and philanthropists to ensure seamless provision of rescue, relief to the affectees.
He reiterated resolve of his government to utilize all available resources for providing relief and rehabilitating the lives of the flood hit people.
The Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Dr. Zafar Qadir gave a detailed briefing to the President about the current flood situation and the ongoing rescue and relief activities in these areas. He informed the President that in consonance with directives of the government, every possible measure is being adopted to provide timely rescue and effective relief to the flood hit population.
