CARITAS International Delegation hands over cheque of one million to Member Disaster risk reduction National Disaster Management Authority
Islamabad: A six member delegation of CARITAS led by Mr. Michael Roy, Secretary General, Caritas International, Vatican City called on Mr. Ahmed Kamal, Member DRR in NDMA. The delegation included Bishop Joseph Couttes, President, Caritas Pakistan and Bishop Rufin Anthony, Bishop of Islamabad and Rawalpindi besides other representatives of CARITAS Pakistan.
Mr. Ahmed Kamal appreciated the humanitarian initiatives of Caritas Pakistan during Floods 2010, particularly facilitating the affected communities in shelter, health and WASH and also acknowledged CARITAS for helping farmers in recovering their land by providing them with seeds, fertilizers and tools to accelerate the rehabilitation process.
The Member DRR, NDMA, duly acknowledged CARITAS initiative to impart trainings for disaster risk management (DRM) in collaboration with NDMA.
Mr. Michel Roy presented a cheque of Rupees One million in the National Disaster Management Fund to pursue promotion of DRM training and awareness. Mr. Ahmed Kamal thanked the delegation for their philanthropic gesture and presented them with Shields as mementos to mark the occasion.
