Capital Development Authority doctor removes gallbladder of 25.5 centimetre size from abdomen of 77 years old women
Islamabad: Head of Surgical Department CDA, Hospital renowned Laparoscopic Surgeon Dr. Naeem Taj has made a new history on Tuesday, 14 June 2011 when he removed gallbladder of 25.5 centimetre size from the abdomen of 77 years old women named Mst. Rashida Begum Mother of Muhammad Akram Arain, and set a new world record of removing such a large size gallbladder through laparoscopic procedure.
This unique kind of operation was assisted by Dr. Syed Arshad Ali, Dr. Shabbir Hussain, Dr. Nahida, Dr. Tauqeer, paramedical and nursing staff Ghulam Hussain, Naseem Awan, Nargis Batool, Malik M. Ismail, Ghulam Akbar and Aslam. Dr. Naeem Taj informed that prior to this Dr. Manmohan Verma removed gallbladder of 25 centimetre from the abdomen of 50 years old lady Krishna Devi in Kanpur India on August 17, 2009 which was performed by cutting abdomen but the recent surgery was conducted through laparoscopic procedure.
He said normally the size of gallbladder was estimated up to 8 centimetre and a normal operation takes only 30 minutes but this complicated operation was completed within 2 hours and all the team members worked efficiently to remove history’s longest gallbladder. Dr. Naeem informed that he had also conducted two other similar nature operations sometimes back when he removed 6,500 stones from the gallbladder of 85 years old women and also operated a 107 years old woman which is world record.
