Candlelight memorial for victims of Peshawar school massacre – cowardly acts cannot deter morale of Pakistani nation: Iftikhar Vohra

Karachi, December 17, 2014 (PPI-OT): President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Iftikhar Ahmed Vohra, while vehemently condemning the barbaric terrorists strike on a school in Peshawar which resulted in the martyrdom of 146 people including more than 132 children, stated that although this cruel incident has terribly wounded the entire nation but we all remain united and such cowardly acts cannot deter the resolve and morale of Pakistani nation.

Speaking at a candlelight memorial organized at the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Wednesday, Iftikhar Vohra offered heartfelt condolences to the families of the innocent children and said that the entire business community of Karachi city was totally grieved and fully supports the ongoing operation Zarb-e-Azb which must continue till the elimination of last terrorist from Pakistani soils.

Vice Chairman Businessmen Group and Former President KCCI, Anjum Nisar, Senior Vice President KCCI, Muhammad Ibrahim Kasumbi, Vice President KCCI, Agha Shahab Ahmed Khan, Former Presidents KCCI, Haroon Agar, A.Q. Khalil and Majyd Aziz along with KCCI Managing Committee members attended the candlelight memorial, which was organized to pay tribute to the martyred children, express solidarity with bereaved families, support Operation Zarb-e-Azb and send a strong message to terrorists and banned militant outfits.

Terming the cowardly act as ‘inhuman and barbaric’, Iftikhar Vohra urged all political parties to set aside their differences and express unity and solidarity against the menace of terrorism and extremism so that a strong message could be sent to terrorists responsible for this heinous act.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chairman Businessmen Group and Former President KCCI, Anjum Nisar demanded from the government to immediately issue orders for the execution of hundreds of terrorists imprisoned in Pakistani jails.

He further advised the government and the armed forces to devise a stringent strategy to stop infiltration of foreign terrorists into Pakistan and record strong protests to concerned embassies, if they have found traces of militants’ infiltration from any country. He said that the Peshawar School incident was a sheer conspiracy against Pakistan and the government must adopt zero tolerance policy towards terrorism.

Anjum Nisar also extended Karachi Chamber’s full support and assistance to the bereaved families during this difficult time and also to the government and armed forces in their quest to completely eradicate terrorism from Pakistan.

Senior Vice President KCCI, Mohammad Ibrahim Kasumbi stated that Karachi Chamber has lit up 146 candles today to express deep grief over the incident and they, on behalf of entire business community of Karachi, want to send a strong message that we will not tolerate and never succumb to any act of terrorism in Pakistan.

He also underscored the need to identify failures and loopholes on priority basis in order to avoid such incidents in future.

Vice President KCCI, Agha Shahab Ahmed Khan said that Peshawar School carnage was clearly an attempt to weaken the courage and strength of the entire nation but this barbaric incident has united the entire nation which demands strict action and exemplary punishment to the element behind this brutal attack.

Former President KCCI, A. Q. Khalil, in his remarks, said that he has contacted President of Pakistan, Mamnoon Hussain so that National Awards could be conferred to all the martyred of Peshawar School incident who were brutally assassinated. He also underscored the need for coordinated efforts between the government, armed forces and others to completely wipe out terrorism threats being suffered by Pakistan since 9/11.
