Asia-Pacific leaders condemn war, renew calls for open trade

Asia Pacific Leaders have called for an end of Russia-Ukraine war and pledged to steer the region's economies toward sustainable growth.

This came at a joint declaration issued after a meeting of Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation in Bangkok.

The declaration condemned the conflict and lamented its impact on economic growth, inflation, supply chains and energy and food security.

The declaration acknowledged differing views on the war and said the forum, which is devoted largely to promoting trade and closer economic ties, was not a venue for resolving such conflicts. But it noted that the war and other security issues can have significant consequences for the global economy.
