Anti Narcotics Task Force’s seizure of 3.45 tons of drugs worth Rs 3780 million in 7 operations arrest 6 persons including 1 foreigner and seize 3 vehicles

Islamabad, December 15, 2014 (PPI-OT): ANF in its war against drugs, conducted 7 operations at Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Karachi and Qilla Abdullah. During operations, ANF recovered 3.391 Tons of Charas and 58.5 Kgs of Heroin, while arrested 6 offenders involved in drug smuggling including a Nigerian National and seized 3 vehicles. Most of the recovered drugs were destined abroad. The value of recovered drugs is approximately Rs. 3780 Million in International Market.

ANF Karachi on pursuance of information intercepted a Truck No.TK- 241at Super Highway near Toll Plaza, Karachi and recovered 30 Kgs of Heroin. Truck was loaded with Soap Stones, and Heroin packed in a plastic bag was tactfully concealed under the layer of the stones. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody at the spot.

According to initial investigations, Heroin was to be delivered at Kemari area, Karachi. It was being transported from Peshawar to Karachi for handing over to some other Narco Gang for smuggling abroad.

ANF Quetta carried out a successful intelligence led operation and seized 3381 Kgs of Charas from general area of Killi Habib Zai, Dashti Lorah, Tehsil Gulistan, and District Qilla Abdullah. According to details, drug was packed in 73 bags, each contained 46/47 Kgs of Charas.

The drug was placed at a deserted site, outside the populated area and was concealed in the cuttings of mountainous terrain. As per initial investigations, the consignment was placed for handing over from one Narco Gang to another. After receiving a safe signal, the drugs were finally to be shifted to some safe location at Coastal Belt of Baluchistan for smuggling abroad via sea route.

ANF Rawalpindi acted upon a tip-off and intercepted a suspected Toyota Corolla Car No. LWN-0713 near Burhan, Motorway Interchange, District Attock. During search, 24 Kgs of Heroin was recovered from the car.

Heroin was concealed in improvised cavities of the car. According to information, Heroin was being smuggled from Peshawar to Faisalabad for handing over to another Narco Gang. An occupant of the car namely Rakhman-ud-Din r/o Peshawar was held at the spot.

ANF Rawalpindi Road Check Team searched a suspected Suzuki Jeep Registered No. BB7233-Peshawar near Burhan Motorway Interchange, Attock and recovered 10 Kgs of Charas tactfully concealed in secret cavities of the jeep. A drug smuggler Abdul Ghafar Khan r/o Khyber Agency was taken into custody along with the jeep.

According to reports, he was trying to smuggle the narcotics to Gilgit for distribution to local peddlers. ANF Rawalpindi arrested an accused Tahir Mehmood Butt r/o Jhelum near PSO Petrol Pump, GT Road, Sohawa, District Jhelum and recovered 2 Kgs of Heroin from his personal possession.
