Anti Narcotics Task Force during 10 country-wide operations at various cities, foil attempts to smuggle 4.3 tons of drugs abroad worth Rs 4434 million

Islamabad, December 22, 2014 (PPI-OT): ANF during 10 country-wide operations at various cities, foiled several attempt s to smuggle 4.3 tons of drugs abroad worth Rs 4434 million in International Market.

The seized drugs include 4.27 Tons of Charas, 17 Kgs of Heroin and 24 Kgs of Opium. During the operations, ANF busted a notorious D rug Trafficking Organization involved in smuggling of Heroin to foreign destinations. ANF also arrested 12 persons involved in drug smuggling and confiscated 4 vehicles during operations.

ANF Rawalpindi launched an intelligence led operation and busted a Drug Trafficking Organization (DTO) opera ting at Gujar Khan, Rawalpindi and Lahore. DTO was involved in smuggling of Heroin to European countries via aerial routes through Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad and Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore.

The operation resulted in comp lete busting of the DTO with 15 Kg Heroin seizure, 4 arrests, and confiscation of 3 vehicles. According to details, ANF Rawalpindi on pursuance of information, intercepted three Toyota Corolla Cars bearing Nos. LES 2743, LEH 9892 and LEI 7389 near Quid e A zam International Hospital, Golra More, GT Road Rawalpindi. During the search, 15 Kgs of Heroin was recovered from the said cars.

Four persons on board namely Abdul Razzaq r/o Lahore, Arsalan Akhtar r/o Rawalpindi, Rizwan Ahmed r/o Lahore and Naqash Iqbal r/o Jhelum were apprehended at the spot. As per investigations, the accused were trying to transport the Heroin from KPK to Rawalpindi and Lahore for smuggling to foreign destinations through Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad and Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore.

Six other individuals were also taken into custody in this connection, who however, were released after thorough investigations. ANF Rawalpindi Road Check Team during road checking near Quid e Azam International Hospital, Golra More, GT Road, Rawalpindi, held an accused namely Bilal Zakir r/o Sialkot and recovered 1.050 Kgs of Heroin from his possession.

Heroin was concealed in his shoulder bag. He intended to hand over the drugs to some other drug distributor. ANF Rawalpindi Road Check Team apprehended an individual namely Tahir Shah r/o Khyber Agency and recovered 4.8 Kgs of Charas from his personal possession.

Charas was tactfully concealed in a bird’s cage. He was arrested near EME College, GT Road Rawalpindi. As per invest igation s, the accused is involved in peddling of drug at local level.

ANF Rawalpindi on pursuance of information, raided a house in Mohallah Safdarabad, Pirwadhai, Rawalpindi and arrested Muhammad Waqar and Usman Farooq along with 1.1 Kgs of Charas and 120 Grams of Opium. According to details, both accused are real brothers and belong to Swat. They were currently residing at Pir Wadhai, Rawalpindi and involved in supply of drugs at local level.

ANF Rawalpindi in an operation conducted at Basee n village, near Gilgit City and recovered 200 Grams of Charas from personal possession of an accused Bashir Muhammad r/o Gilgit. The accused is reported as street peddler.

ANF Quetta carried out a successful intelligence led operations and seized 4080 Kgs of Charas (Gar da) from general area of Killi Khwaja Zai, Tehsil Gulistan, District Qilla Abdullah. According to details, the consignment was concealed at a deserted site situated in the folding s of mountainous terrain, outside the populated area.

Charas was stuffed in 7 3 plastic bags. Out of 73 bags, 72 bags contained 56 Kg Charas, while 1 bag contained 48 Kg Charas. As per reports, the consignment was to be delivered to some Narco Gang for onward trans fer to some overseas destination via sea route from Gawadar.

ANF Lahore intercepted a UK destined parcel at TCS Office, Sialkot City and recovered 920 Grams of Heroin concealed inside the parcel. The parcel contained 4 motorbike jackets and Heroin was tactfully concealed in elbow and shoulder protection caps of the said jackets.

The parcel was being despatched by a local resident namely Imran Ahmed to a recipient Muhammad Ibrahim, residing at Dagenham, UK. ANF Peshawar on tip off intercepted a Ford Pick up No. RIH 3423 near Malka Dheer, Charsadah Mardan Road, Mardan and rec overed 88.75 Kgs of Charas and 18.75 Kgs of Opium concealed in it.

Drugs were hidden under the layer of rice straw loaded on the vehicle. Two individuals on board Khurram Waqas r/o Sheikhupura and Naveed Akbar r/o Bahawalnagar were arrested at the spot. As per information, drugs were being transported to Punjab for local consumption.

ANF Karachi raided a house in village Piyalo, District Khairpur and recovered 90 Kgs of Charas and 2 Kgs of Opium from the house. The occupant of the house Mashooq Ali Larik , was taken into custody. As per investigations, the house was being run as drug den und er the auspices of the accused.

ANF Karachi raided a drug den being run at a compound at village Chakar Waryaso, District Khairpur and recovered 8 Kgs of Charas and 3 K gs of Opium. The accused, however, succeeded to flee away from the scene. Efforts to arrest the absconder are at hand. Cases have been registered against all the detainees at respective ANF Police Stations and further investigations are under process.
