Anti Narcotics Force and Pakistan Scouts Association join hands against Drugs
Islamabad: Anti Narcotics Force and Pakistan Scouts Association (PSA) signed MoU of cooperation on Saturday at Ministry of Narcotics Control. Federal Secretary Narcotics Control Division, Iftikhar Ahmad and Chief Commissioner Pakistan Scouts Association, Lt. Gen (Retd) S.P. Shahid inked the MoU at the ministry. Director General Anti Narcotics force, Maj. Gen. Syed Shakeel Hussain and other senior official were present on the occasion.
Under the MoU Anti Narcotics Force and Pakistan Scouts Association would jointly launch social movement against drug use in order to reduce drug demand reduction. The major aspects of this cooperation include preparation of lectures and syllabus outlining the harms of drugs, impart training to trainers and scouts, plan and execute joint projects to lessen drug demand, launch social movement in all part of country and jointly motivate National and International donors to raise funds for the efforts against drug menace.
Secretary Narcotics Control Division, Iftikhar Ahmad informed that youth is more vulnerable to become victim of drug addiction. Therefore, it is necessary to launch social movement to create awareness among youth against drug addiction. He also said that it is high time that we worked together to uproot this evil from our society.
Chief Commissioner, Pakistan Scouts Association, Lt. Gen (Retd) S.P. Shahid said that youth can play vital role in any of social movements. He said that Pakistan Scouts Association would train their nucleus staff that shall be further responsible for training of scouts at all levels. PSA would ensure training of scouts during the camps ant training sessions held throughout country.
Director General Anti Narcotics Force, Maj. Gen Syed Shakeel Hussain said that it is shared responsibility of government as well as civil society to fight against drugs. Therefore community participation is necessary to achieve desired objective of making Pakistan drug-free state. In the light of above mentioned agreed areas of cooperation. We would actively launch awareness campaign throughout the country.
