Anti-india protests, shutdown in IHK

Srinagar, July 15, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, anti-India protests and strike were held in different parts of the territory including Srinagar, Sopore and Bandipore against the murder of a Kashmiri youth in India.

All shops and business establishments remained closed in Nawab Bazar and other parts of Srinagar. Clashes between protesters and Indian forces were reported in several areas.

Parvaiz Ahmad Teli, a Kashmir youth, was found dead in Mumbai after he went missing on July 6. His family and locals accused Mumbai police and right wing Hindu elements of murdering Parvaiz.

The agitated youth also clashed with the Indian paramilitary forces in Sopore and Baramulla to protest against Parvaiz’s death.

There were clashes and anti-India protests in Ganderbal areas against killing of another local youth in India’s Rajasthan.

In Bandipora district, people took to the streets and shouted anti-India and pro-freedom slogans. The forces were deployed in strength to prevent the youth who resorted to stone hurling. Clashes continued till filing of this report.
