All Pakistan Compressed Natural Gas Association lauds Prime Minister for announcing economic package to revive drying investments

Islamabad, December 02, 2013 (PPI-OT): The All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) on Monday lauded the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for announcing a comprehensive package to revive drying investments and boost confidence of the downhearted business community.

All the problems being faced by Pakistan have something to do with the prevailing economic situation which cannot be addressed unless the business community feel safe and encouraged, said Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha, Chairman Supreme Council APCNGA.

In a statement issued here today, he said that the incentive package intended to encourage investment in the country was need of the hour if we are to solve the increasing problems.

We fully support the PM’s package which will accelerate economic growth, reduce unemployment and benefit masses, he added.

Ghiyas Paracha said that the business-friendly government should also announce incentives for CNG sector providing employment to millions and benefitting majority of population by provision of affordable fuel.

He said that almost four million vehicles are using CNG making Pakistan world number one country but the incompetence of the former government has pushed this industry to the brink.

He added that oil import bill is the main contributor to the high inflation which can be reduced by promoting CNG which will benefit whole population of Pakistan.

Paracha said that high interest rate is chocking growth while increasing unemployment is triggering poverty forcing people to compromise on education and health which in turn is supporting militancy, and extremism.

Harassment by officials, bureaucratic procedures, taxation issues and bhatta culture are some issues that need urgent attention to rebuild the confidence of the weary business community, he said.

The leader of the CNG sector said that government has realised that standard of living of majority will continue to deteriorate unless business community is allowed to work with peace of mind which is beginning of the change.
